Vibrant colors and a whimsical world made of eggs, hens, chicks, and giant rabbits dotting the Place de la République in Barcarès. In this fabulous setting reminiscent of something Walt Disney would not disown, the enchanting park of the first Z’Oeufforiques opened its doors for a month on Saturday, April 4th, 2026, welcoming visitors with free entry. A great success.
Angelica, 8, and her “big” brother Felix, 10, have eyes as wide as saucers! Holding their parents Pol and Marta’s hands, these little Géronais are mesmerized by the spectacle and colorful decorations welcoming visitors to Place de la République in Barcarès. “We come regularly every winter to the Christmas Village and the kids love it! They always want to leave with a stuffed animal. So, we decided to discover Barcarès in the spring this time… And here we are at the Z’Oeufforiques. And we don’t regret it!” the parents said with a smile in perfect French.
This “spring event” started under the best conditions: 26 degrees in the sun, no breeze, and on the horizon, a vivid blue sea. On April 4th, giant rabbits, hens, giant eggs, and weird lampposts, sofas, couches, all made of colorful ceramic, in solid colors, multicolored, decorated with dots, stripes, floral patterns… They kicked off the festivities. This decor, heavily influenced by childhood, seems to be inspired by the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the animated film Alice in Wonderland, and illustrated books that we sometimes enjoy flipping through. Our childhood memories are evoked with every step.
Young parents Ludovic and Géraldine, from Perpignan, with their 4-year-old daughter Camille, were “amazed by the giant eggs,” and the dad compared them to Fabergé… Camille wants to touch everything, especially the fake chicks. Further on, people take photos sitting in the egg-shaped armchair made of fake chocolate, or under the arches and decorated portals shaped like eggs, beautiful like giant toys.
A month of animations, games, and laughter
Throughout this joyful and festive month, performances and shows will follow one another until May 3rd, the closing date of this enchanted park. On the agenda until May: a giant omelet and the essential Easter egg hunt (Sunday, April 5th), markets and stands, a flower battle (colorful flowers also bursting with real colors), children’s workshops, an “Ecological and Funny” show, concerts and “Spring-Summer” fashion shows, a brass band, giant wooden games, and a “Life-Size” parade with the Cielo Company.
An animation not to be missed is the Z’Oeufs Olympics on Sunday, April 12th, featuring skill, reflection, and coordination challenges for both young and old. And, of course, chocolate rewards await at the end!
