The war in Iran, triggered over a month ago by the United States and Israel, has reignited the conflict between Lebanon and Israel.
Hezbollah, acting in support of Tehran, has increased rocket and drone attacks since the beginning of March, while the Israeli army has intensified airstrikes and launched massive ground operations in southern Lebanon, aiming to extend its “control” over the area.
Lebanon on Tuesday denounced Israel’s intention of a “new occupation” of its territory, after Israel stated it would establish a “security zone” in Lebanon once the war is over.
The conflict has already led to over 1,200 deaths and the displacement of one million people in the Cedar country, according to the Lebanese government and the UN. While Israel seeks to definitively dismantle Hezbollah, Lebanon sinks into a severe humanitarian crisis and history repeats itself.
