At the Conference: Nguyen Minh Vu, member of the Party Central Committee and permanent Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dang Hoang Giang, member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; Le Anh Tuan, member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ngo Le Van, member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with more than 400 delegates representing ministry units.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs carries out its foreign policy work in a coordinated and effective manner.
During his opening speech at the Conference, Comrade Nguyen Minh Vu, member of the Party Central Committee and permanent Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, declared that in 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would perform its duties in a context of unprecedented global and regional changes since the Cold War era and that the country would enter a new phase of development.
In particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been given a new mission by taking over the functions of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Central Committee and some tasks of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, thus becoming the coordinating body for the foreign policy activities of the political system.
In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has demonstrated its capabilities by proactively seizing opportunities, overcoming challenges, contributing to the creation of a favorable foreign policy environment, implementing synchronized and efficient foreign policy work, and concluding the 13th National Congress with many significant achievements.
These achievements have been recognized and praised by Party and State leaders; they are acknowledged as a pioneering force in maintaining a stable and peaceful environment, mobilizing resources and external conditions for development, and strengthening the country’s position.
The spokesperson for the ministry, Nguyen Minh Vu, thanked the entire staff for their efforts and dedication, encouraging them to continue their contributions and improve their living conditions in order to work peacefully.
Three major advancements in diplomacy.
In his speech at the Conference, Le Hoai Trung, member of the Politburo, Party Secretary at the Ministry, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that this conference held great importance following the 14th national Party Congress. It aimed to promote democratic spirit and responsible contributions from officials and employees of the Ministry, in line with general guidelines on implementing democracy at the local level. It was also closely linked to understanding and implementing foreign policy and development directions of the country, in accordance with the functions and missions of the Ministry.
The Minister affirmed that the Party and State appreciate the achievements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its staff, recognizing them for overcoming difficulties and diligently completing a considerable volume of work with high quality and strict deadlines, thus concretely and efficiently contributing to the country’s overall development.
Looking ahead, the Minister highlighted three major advancements for the sector’s work in the upcoming period: “Correct orientation – Rigorous discipline – Excellent expertise,” with the requirement of a “new thinking – new ways of doing things.”
The Minister also called for a rethink in outreach, implementation methods, and vision for each area and task assigned, emphasizing the promotion of digital transformation as a key element for changing work methods, operations, and management.
Each sector leader must strengthen discipline, adhere strictly to Party regulations and state laws regarding speech discipline and state secrets protection, especially in the social media and digital space; seize the new stage of national development and the new sector requirements and tasks to determine the necessary efforts and determination for implementation.
Promoting a spirit of creativity and innovation in thinking and methods.
In addition to professional duties, Minister Le Hoai Trung stated that the Party’s permanent Committee and the ministry’s leadership pay special attention to the well-being of cadres and employees, tasking relevant units to continue researching appropriate compensation systems.
The Minister also spent considerable time reviewing the rich traditions and glorious achievements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over its 80 years of development, under the direct leadership of President Ho Chi Minh since its inception.
Sharing memories of his early days in the sector, the experience accumulated during his career, and his vision for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ development direction, the Minister urged every official and employee to promote creativity, innovation in thinking and work methods, rigorous discipline, and excellent professional skills to collectively build a stronger Ministry of Foreign Affairs; worthy of the sector’s proud tradition and the shining example of past diplomat operations, and to prepare a force ready to contribute even more to the new era of national development.
