The leadership of the Lebanese army issued a statement on Wednesday announcing the redeployment of certain units due to the intensification of the Israeli offensive in Lebanon, especially in the southern border areas.
According to the statement, “escalation and enemy incursions near several localities” have led to the encirclement and isolation of some units as well as the cutting off of their supply lines, prompting the army to reposition and redeploy.
The command stressed, however, that they continue to stand by the residents within the available means, maintaining groups of soldiers in these localities.
In this context, the army denounces the ongoing Israeli attacks “without distinction between military and civilians” in different regions of the country.
They also warn against campaigns of incitement and questioning of the role of the military, spread by certain media outlets and on social networks, stating that they fuel internal tensions and have negative repercussions on the population.
The command further asserts that the army continues its tasks despite strong pressures and major challenges imposed by the current situation, emphasizing its efforts to fulfill its duty in a particularly critical context.
