The 2MF inaugurates on April 16 in Toulon an afterwork on the challenge of Maintaining Operational Condition (MCO) in combat situations.
The 2MF collective, which brings together professionals in industrial maintenance, announces the launch of a new cycle of professional meetings: the “Maintenance Afterwork”. The first edition will take place on Thursday, April 16, 2026 in Toulon and will focus on a topic of current interest for the armed forces: “Combat MCO, changing paradigm”. This event aims to extend the debates of the 2MF Forum by deepening strategic topics through expert roundtable discussions.
A strategic issue: adapting maintenance to war
While the Maintenance of Operational Condition (MCO) of military equipment traditionally relies on scheduled maintenance contracts, the return of high-intensity conflicts requires a rethink of this model. In combat situations, maintenance shifts to an invisible world, where agility and reactivity become the key words to restore the operational capacity of ships, aircraft, or weapons systems.
This new reality raises complex questions that will be at the heart of the debates. How to adapt maintenance contracts to integrate the unpredictability of combat? Should sourcing of parts and skills be strengthened and diversified? Should public contracting rules evolve to increase flexibility? How can companies in the defense industrial and technological base (BITD) organize themselves to respond to these peaks in activity while respecting labor law?
A panel of high-level experts
To address these crucial questions, the roundtable will bring together a panel of guests including military officials, elected officials, and industry representatives, ensuring a comprehensive view of the issue:
– Rear Admiral Fabrice BORNET, Director of the Fleet Support Service (SSF) in Toulon, a service of the French Navy directly responsible for the MCO of surface vessels and submarines. – Yannick CHENEVARD, Member of Parliament for Var, member of the Armed Forces Commission and Budget Rapporteur for the French Navy, providing a political and budgetary vision. – Captain Alexandre GOUDOU, Director of the Aeronautical Industrial Workshop (AIA) in Cuers-Pierrefeu, a major site for the maintenance of military aircraft. – Marie-Christine MECHET, Deputy General Delegate of the GICAN (Grouping of Industries for Construction and Naval Activities), representing the voice of the naval sector.
A new format to deepen exchanges
These “Maintenance Afterwork” events have been designed as a paid extension of the 2MF Forum, an annual free event that brings together the maintenance ecosystem. The objective of this new format is to allow more targeted and in-depth discussions on cross-cutting themes identified by professionals. Two more events are already scheduled for June and October 2026.
The 2MF, born from a collaboration between industrial and institutional actors, aims to promote best practices, foster the sector, create links between SMEs and major customers, and promote maintenance careers to young people.
The first edition of this afterwork will take place on April 16, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the IBIS Styles Hotel in Toulon. Registrations are open on the official event website: forum-2mf.com
