The Parc Astérix has imagined the perfect response to the opening of the “Frozen Queen” area of Disneyland Paris.
A nice poke in the nose. In terms of communication, attack is often the best defense. And the team at Parc Astérix has understood this well. To announce the novelties of its 2026 season, the amusement park posted a video that humorously pokes fun at its competitor, Disneyland Paris, which inaugurated the “Frozen Queen” extension on Sunday, March 29th.
Over the weekend, Disney fans had their eyes on Marne-la-Vallée and the grand opening to the public of the first zone of the new extension of the park owned by the big-eared company, renamed Disney Adventure World. A zone dedicated to the movie “Frozen” and replicating the village of Arendelle.
In the promotional video posted on social media by Parc Astérix, we can see a feminine silhouette dressed in a sparkling cape – obviously depicting Cleopatra – stepping past a melting snowman to the point of losing the carrot that serves as its nose. A not-so-subtle reference to the character Olaf, the mascot of the new area of Disneyland Paris.
In the video caption, the park writes: “Winter is slowly fading away in the Park… From April 4th, the Queen of Queens opens the doors to her kingdom!” The “Queen of queens” is obviously a reference to Elsa, the Queen from Disney’s animated movie. Finally, the end of winter and the melting snowman point out the springtime timing chosen by Disney for the opening of an area with an aesthetic that is very “wintry”. The playful jab has clearly amused Disneyland Paris, who responded with an emoji.
The rest of the video also prompted a significant reaction from internet users. The references made to the movie “Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra,” directed by Alain Chabat and released in 2002, such as “you have three months”, “you will be covered in gold”, and “the crocodiles” were at the center of the discussion.
In an attempt to compete with Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff, Parc Astérix has chosen to expand its dedicated area to ancient Egypt. The decorations of the Oxygénarium have been redesigned and the attraction renamed “The Descent of the Nile.” The flying chairs also have a new name: “The Flight of Ibis,” and a new art director. A new restaurant, Les Comptoirs d’EpideMais, has opened in place of the Circus. And the show “The Offerings of Cleopatra” is making a comeback in a new version. These novelties will be available to explore starting from April 4th.
