Choukri Gabteni, Isabelle Mergault’s ex-partner, was present during her final months, providing support to Maya and Iris. A respected actor, he had appeared in notable films like “La Haine” and collaborated on two movies directed by Isabelle. Despite their separation, they had not severed ties.
The future of Maya and Iris is now a concern following Isabelle’s passing. Although she joked with her friend about marrying him to care for the girls, it was understood to be in jest. Jean-Louis Barcelona clarified his inability to take on that responsibility. The girls have a solid support system and also have their biological parents to rely on during this difficult time.
