Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry have just experienced a magical year. What future can we now imagine?

Wow, what a year! It is frankly impossible to do better! Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry, who formed their duo in early 2025, have checked all the boxes of the objectives set in their program. It’s simple, at the end of their first season skating together, the Frenchman and the Canadian (who became French for the Olympics) delivered a MAG-NI-FI-CENT performance.

After becoming French champions, they were then crowned European champions. Then they clinched the Olympic gold at the Milan-Cortina Games. Finally, on Saturday night, they became world champions in Prague. Did Cizeron imagine this destiny when he announced his return to competition in March 2025 with a new partner, to everyone’s surprise? Most likely not.

First, savor

In record time, the 31-year-old man, who had retired after the particularly painful end of his journey with Gabriella Papadakis, created 2 very ambitious programs with Fournier Beaudry, his 33-year-old best friend in town. The result: a magnificent program, with fabulous artistic and technical levels that will impress all judges and captivate all audiences.

What will they do now? What do they want for their future? First, they must appreciate. The duo talked about enjoying this “suspended moment, which is one of those hoped for in a skater’s career”, according to Cizeron. Honestly, wouldn’t it be nice to stop here? “I have no idea what we will decide. Everything in its own time. We have to wait for it to sprout inside, in order to share afterwards,” said the Frenchman. These are conflicting feelings: we love what we do and at the same time, it involves a lot of sacrifices. When the time comes, we will have to feel it and respect it.”

The 2030 Olympics in sight?

Their coach Romain Haguenauer mentioned the idea of going all the way to the 2030 Olympics, to be held in France, as the duo had announced when they partnered up. “I won’t speak for them. But it’s no secret, at the beginning when they decided to skate together, the goal was to go until (2030). They will choose, they will see what they want. I’m not saying they will continue, we’ll see. But it’s a first season and I think they can go much further. For me, this is just the beginning of the story.” Seeing the splendid duo being crowned in France in 4 years would indeed be so majestic…
